Actual OnlyFans Models Are Angry at Hollywood’s Depiction Of Them with Sydney Sweeney in ‘Euphoria’

Euphoria’s Season 3 plotline about Cassie has OnlyFans models super annoyed. And, it’s not hard to see why.

On HBO’s fan-favorite drama, Sydney Sweeney’s character is in the middle of a career pivot to adult modeling. As the writers of this show decided, OnlyFans was the best route to take here. But, the depiction has a lot of real-life models upset with Cassie’s version of their livelihood.

Sweeney’s character is trying to marry Nate (Jacob Elordi) in a lavish ceremony. (I got wedding PTSD from the thought of $50,000 on flowers alone!) So, to get a hold of that wild amount of money, she’s doing OF to provide herself some income. Well, that and to combat the creeping dread/boredom that’s been an issue for her.

However, Variety spoke to some OnlyFans creators about their gripes with Euphoria’s depiction of the livelihood this season. For Sydney Leathers, it’s all over-the-top, which was unavoidable with the Euphoria of it all. But, that doesn’t make it less annoying.

“There’s just a lot that’s ridiculous and cartoonish about it,” the OnlyFans creator explained. “There’s so much that they have her doing that is not even allowed on OnlyFans, and that alone is infuriating: the age-play stuff where she’s dressed as a baby in a diaper, for example.

Leathers added, “Credit card processors have very strict rules that you have to abide by, and the rules are getting stricter all the time.”

Yeah, having Cassing crawling on all fours with like Yandy “sexy dog” costume parts is one thing. But, the baby fetish stuff is where a lot of the creators had some gripes. For starters, that kind of content hasn’t been on the platform for a while now!

You can read this yourself in OnlyFans’ Acceptable Use Policy. “Illegal activity including actual, claimed, or role-played: exploitation, abuse, or harm of individuals under the age of 18; incest; bestiality; necrophilia; rape or sexual assault; and any content or conduct that promotes terrorism.”

So, that seems basically black and white there! Maitland Ward is an OnlyFans model that has broken into “traditional media spaces” with appearances in White Chicks and Boy Meets World told Variety that the whole Cassie with a rattle business is dangerous.

Ward began, “In the climate we’re in, that they dressed her up as a baby to make pornographic OnlyFans content was beyond troubling and again serves to perpetuate stereotypes that sex workers have no moral compass and that they will do anything for money.”

“And there’s always this untrue stigma that somehow sex work is synonymous with sex trafficking and abuse,” Ward continued. “And they just said, let’s make a joke of it. That is so funny. I’m not laughing.”

Since the first moments of the show premiering on HBO, a lot of smart TV critics pointed out that Euphoria had an interesting relationship to the leading ladies that helped bring it into so many American living rooms. Once you hear those concerns, it’s hard to ignore them.

Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer have all kind of defended their characters at various junctures. But, Euphoria Season 3 feels like the dam bursting in a real way. Whether it’s the time skip, or the storylines they chose, this group of episodes just isn’t hitting like it was before.

It’s easier for moments like this OnlyFans arc for Cassie to get scrutinized now, and people on the Internet are less likely to just shrug it off as “complaining.” We’ve all seen Sam Levinson’s mixtape by now. This is par for the course for these writers and creatives.

It’s sad to see these OnlyFans creators not really being taken seriously by the material. But, Euphoria’s always been more of a surface-level ordeal at its core from the word go. You don’t need a ring light to see that
