On these hot summer days, if we hear the tinkle of a Mr. Softee ice cream truck rolling up to the curb, we giggle in hand-clapping glee. Now, Britain’s dogs also have something worth panting for: This Saturday, the K99 Van will be debuting its canine-tailored desserts at The Boomerang Pets Party in Regents Park, London.

A team of scientists–because this is serious cuisine, folks–concocted “the perfect combination of temperature, texture and taste,” reports the Daily Mail, ensuring that the ice cream would be both tasty and safe for dogs.

Two flavors were created for this project: “Dog eat hog world,” a gammon and chicken sorbet in a cone with a biscuit garnish, and “canine cookie crunch,” a combination of mixed dog biscuits and ice cream.

Head chef Ceric Nale (they even have chefs!) told the Daily Mail, “When it came to designing the recipes for the K99s, we wanted to make sure we had the most exciting flavor and texture combinations.” Early tests indicate that dogs have a “big appetite” for these customized treats.

The K99 van, which plays the theme song from Scooby-Doo, will be making rounds in British parks this summer. If our British readers manage to snap some photos, please send them along to [email protected]!
