A new villain has been confirmed for The Dark Knight Rises: Josh Pence has been cast as Ra’s Al Ghul, who made an appearance in Batman Begins. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pence will play a younger version of Ra’s Al Ghul in flashbacks that take place 30 years prior to TDKR. Liam Neeson had played the present-day version, who was the leader of the League of Shadows. This sheds light on which role Marion Cotillard will be playing, now possibly that of Al Ghul’s daughter, Talia Al Ghul. So, if we’re keeping score, that’s Ra’s Al Ghul (in flashbacks), Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway), maybe-not-the-Holiday Killer (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and Bane (Tom Hardy). And another unconfirmed role for Juno Temple.

Future news: The Dark Knight Rises might be four hours long. (Which might be okay.)

Also coming through the wires: Pittsburgh will provide the on-location set for The Dark Knight Rises.

Josh Pence was last seen in The Social Network, but you might consider it “not-seeing.” I’ll explain: He played Tyler Winklevoss, one half of the infamous Winklevi twins, but Armie Hammer‘s face was superimposed over his.
