Most videos of E3 focus on the usual types of attendees– games journalists, developers, PR managers, and booth babes. This year, talk show host and clueless gamer Conan O’Brien crashed the party. He tried out some of the big games on display and spoke to a number of familiar faces, including Microsoft’s Major Nelson and the voice of Mario himself, Charles Martinet. It’s especially funny to see an outsider’s perspective on an event that we scrutinize annually.

In the video, Conan pays a visit to the booths of each of the Big Three. He trips out on the PS4 game Hohokum, plays Ryse: Son of Rome for the Xbone, and finally fulfills his lifelong dream of winning a video game with Mario Kart 8 at the Nintendo booth. What really makes this video, though, is him professing his love for the official Bayonetta cosplayer, who he refers to as “the Sarah Palin of the future.”

With Jimmy Fallon having just had his Video Game Week and Conan going to E3, I think it’s really cool that mainstream audiences are being shown the big upcoming games that only gamers were excited about up until now.
