California Man Investigates a Park Behind Kendall Jenner’s Gated Community. The Park Does Not Exist.

California Man Investigates a Park Behind the Gated Community of Kendall Jenner. The Park Does Not Exist.

Public parks are the best green spaces, so when the government allows a private developer to push through with a project under the pretense of being given park land? It’s a benefit for all, except when it doesn’t happen. Greg (@gregfromvideo1) from California decided to visit Fossil Ridge Park, which is located in a private, gated community. While supposedly accessible to all, Greg made a disappointing discovery instead.

“I am being actively monitored by security officers via that security camera here in the exclusive, gated celebrity community of Mulholland Estates,” Greg told TikTok. He was gesturing at a camera on one of the property’s posts. Greg said that the gated community, located in Santa Monica, California, is home to several celebrities. He named Kendall Jenner, Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton, DJ Khaled, and many more in his clip.

But the reason Greg was able to get through wasn’t because he owns a property in the village. Rather, the guards were legally required to let him through because he claimed he’d be visiting Fossil Ridge Park.

“Fossil Ridge Park, the park that doesn’t exist,” Greg claimed. If it doesn’t exist, why was he allowed to go into the gated community anyway? According to Greg, “When the developers, Mulholland Estates, were cooking up a plan to get government approval for their housing development, they came up with the idea of donating a big chunk of land to the government within the development to be made into a public park.”

The problem with Fossil Ridge Park

Ideally, the citizens would benefit from the development. Although the private developers used a large chunk of the space for luxury mansions, part of the land could be utilized by Californians for hikes. Instead of staying idle, the park could be recreational.

“But the government never developed the land, and they don’t seem to want you to know that it exists,” Greg argued. There is one sign at the start of the “trail” that indicates the land is a park. However, there is no sign outside of Mulholland Estates that indicates that there is a park within the private property. There is also no website for Fossil Ridge Park, which is standard for most US National Parks.

In fact, there doesn’t even seem to be a parking space for those who want to visit the park. Greg was told by the guard to leave his car outside of Mulholland Estates. Nevertheless, Greg still went into Fossil Ridge Park.

The ‘park’ near Kendall Jenner isn’t proving itself worth hiking

“So, on Google, it says that this is 110 acres of scenic trails and vistas,” Greg claimed. He wanted to verify what was said in Google, and upon entering the “trail,” there was a bench, impenetrable brush, and a celebrity house. Not wanting to give up so soon, he went further and encountered yet another bench and impenetrable brush. After the second bench, he had to follow the fence line instead because the trail was covered by even more bushes.

He spotted a third park bench after walking along the fence line. Greg noted, “That doesn’t feel like 110 acres.” The manmade path seemed to have stopped there, and he started following one made by wildlife in the area. He had to duck below trees and go through several plants before he was able to reach the end. It didn’t take him more than a minute and a half to get there.

“There is the beautiful ridge, with the fossils and scenic views, that was donated to the government for you to use,” Greg sarcastically commented. There were trees, but the lack of development made it impossible to appreciate.

“And the government that collects your taxpayer dollars is just not doing its job,” he added. Greg believes that instances like these should be known by the public so that they are informed that their taxes aren’t being properly put to use. In the caption of his video, he updated everyone by telling them that people with trail-building experience are going to contact the agency in charge of the area so that they can put trails in. With more awareness of the issue, Fossil Ridge Park will hopefully become a real, functional park one day.
