A Stranger Followed a Woman Into The Elevator And Said “I’m Not Here For My Car, I am Here for You”
He had other reasons for getting in the elevator.
Women often get unwanted attention and unsolicited comments for the way they dress. But after receiving multiple compliments for her dress at a networking event, Shannon Wilson (@therealshwilson) didn’t expect a man to follow her all the way to the elevator.
“I truly had just one of the scariest situations that I have ever experienced as a woman,” Wilson told TikTok. She said she went to a networking event in Florida. After which, she went to a friend’s birthday party dinner. It was already 11 p.m., and her friends had dropped her off at the parking garage where her car was parked. As she was walking outside to get into the garage, she said a black SUV honked—she was unsure if it was at her or at another car.
Nevertheless, she continued walking to the parking garage. She was already familiar with the area and was on her way to the elevator. “As I was walking towards the front desk, there’s these two ladies that just complimented my outfit,” Wilson said. She thanked them and complimented the women back. For what it’s worth, it seems that many people were fans of Wilson’s dress. Compared to this bride’s $6,000 designer dress disaster, Wilson got people praising her left and right.
“As I get into the elevators, I hit the up button, and a man appears next to me. Thought he was just going to get his car as well,” Wilson stated. Then, the man allegedly started speaking to Wilson.
“I just heard those girls complimenting your outfit. How many of those did you get today?” the man supposedly said. Wilson thought he was just making small talk. She assumed he just wanted to send a compliment her way. Wilson replied that she got a few compliments before the elevator closed.
An elevator horror story
Wilson pressed the button for the third level, where her car was parked. She asked the man where he was headed, and he allegedly gave her a disturbing response.
“I’m not here for my car. I’m here for you,” the man allegedly told Wilson. At this point, she said the elevator doors were already closed. “I had to, like, process what he had just said. He left his car to come and follow me in,” she alleged. Wilson was uncomfortable with the situation, but she pretended to go with the flow until the elevator doors opened. Wilson had nowhere to run, unlike this woman who managed to reject a persistent man after being asked one too many times to dinner.
The elevator doors opened, and Wilson said she saw other kids getting into their car. She briskly walked to the kids, away from the man. Wilson said she asked one of them to stay for a moment and talk to her, explaining that she had an unknown man following her and that she felt uncomfortable. The boy stayed put and kept watch of the man.
She later asked the boy if the man was still following her, and he said the man had just pressed the down button of the elevator. The boy asked Wilson where her car was, and he later signaled to her that it was safe to go in. She asked him to stay outside until she got inside her car, and the boy agreed to her request.
She got out of the parking lot, but she still felt scared
“I quickly glance over the elevator. As the elevator was closing, I see his face,” Wilson said. She hoped he wouldn’t recognize the car she was driving. When she was driving out, Wilson still felt plagued by the thought of being followed. She was still worried that the man would follow her vehicle. Wilson scanned the road for black SUVs that may be following her, but there were none, and she was able to get safely home.
“This is how abductions happen. This is literally a blueprint story of what a vulnerable position I was in, and it could’ve gone so bad,” Wilson said. Although it was over, she still felt terrified of what she had just experienced. It could’ve all been a Dateline episode, like what this woman went through after her “friends” allegedly abandoned her at a drug den.
