Employees of Walter’s Soul Food Cafe in Atlanta arrived for work on Monday, September 14, to find an unpleasant surprise waiting for them in the kitchen. As they were about to prepare to open the cafe for the day, they discovered a man’s body in the HVAC vents in the kitchen. The employee who first spotted the body allegedly began yelling, requesting that their coworker look to see a sight that they couldn’t have anticipated finding when they walked in that morning.

Police were called to the scene, and the cafe stayed closed for the investigation. The way he got into the vent and why he was there at all are also unknown. However, authorities were able to identify the man today as Terrika Myers, which is more than this police department in Texas would allegedly do, considering the department was shut down for failing to prove it was beneficial to the local community.

Authorities don’t suspect foul play in this death

The employees said that they saw the man’s head, arms, and torso hanging out of the kitchen vent above the frying area. When emergency services arrived following a call from the workers, they pronounced the man dead at the scene. As for the cause of death, a medical examiner is working on determining both the cause and manner. For now, that information has yet to be revealed.

So far, the authorities say that they don’t believe that this death was the result of foul play.
