For a movie about Earth’s first encounter with aliens, Arrival didn’t really play up a grand scale and instead chose to remain more story and character focused—to its benefit. That doesn’t mean it was lacking in the visual effects department, though, so take a look at this VFX reel that shows off some of the obvious and not-so-obvious visual effects that created the movie’s look.
