Armie Hammer Was “Cancelled” For Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Women. Now He’s Forcing His Way Back Into Movies

Armie Hammer is attempting a comeback and people online are a bit confused by it. This week, Deadline reported that Mascotland is headed for production.
Tyrese Gibson, Billy Zane and Jake Busey are all on the call sheet along with Hammer. But, why is that a big deal? Well, there was a two-year probe into sexual assault allegations that the actor had pending. An accuser named Effie alleged that, “He abused me mentally, emotionally and sexually. I thought that he was going to kill me.”
Hammer was summarily dropped from WME and most of his ongoing projects. His personal life became enveloped in controversy as others accused him of being a cannibal. The case would be dropped by the Los Angeles Police Department after two years. So, now naturally, the actor has a podcast and is knee deep in the kind of press run that men accused of similar misconduct take on when they’re trying to get booked again. No doubt there will be questions once it becomes time to market Mascotland.
He told Louis Theroux, “People were sort of like my bags of dope with skin on them. You make me feel amazing, so I’m going to throw everything into this, and we’re going to have this whirlwind romance, and I’m going to whisk you up, and we’re going to go on trips, and we’re going to do all this, and then I’m going to bring you home and I’m going to go, ‘Thanks so much, that was great,’ and then I’m going to move on.”
Is Armie Hammer on an apology tour?
You might think that the former has had some time to reflect after all of this media attention and his alleged actions. You would be wrong! Earlier this year, he appeared on Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitsky’s Your Mom’s House podcast to talk about his current situation in Hollywood. It seems he’s already bragging about turning down work after that fallow period where no one would touch him with a ten-foot pole. It’s not uncommon in the current moment to see people publicly implicated in wrongdoing making grand returns after various “hiatuses.” But, the brazenness from Hammer is something to behold.
“I’m turning down jobs. My dance card is getting pretty full,” Hammer told the hosts. “That first job that I turned down after four years of this shit, I mean, it was the best feeling I’ve ever had.”
He would continue, “It’s slow, But generally now the conversation with my name comes up with people in the industry is, ‘Man, that guy got f******.’ And that feels really good. It’s really encouraging.”
Armie Hammer and MeToo in 2026
Charming stuff as always. But, this kind of coming back into the public eye has happened more and more in the last few years. The swift backlash to the MeToo’s movement’s height cannot be overstated. Aided by the rightward turn of most American domestic policy, it’s hard not to notice the links very openly existing. Hammer was convicted of no crime. But, it doesn’t take a genius to articulate the idea that a ton of powerful men have managed to evade consequences for worse crimes than the ones he was accused of.
No one is going to stop the star from making a living. But, a little bit more contrition probably wouldn’t hurt his case. The best thing and the worst thing about people is how short their memories are. We can’t escape that reality in 2026’s United States. Mascotland might even come out and surprise a lot of people. With that said, you can’t really expect everyone to forget something so significant about one of the stars either.
