With seemingly every show going back into production right around now, we have now reached that point in the summer known as TV casting news time, or “Everybody’s Gonna Be in Everything.” This time, it’s just been announced that geek icons Summer Glau, Brent Spiner, Lindsay Wagner, and Rebecca Mader will all be appearing on this season of SyFy‘s Alphas.

Wagner, who starred in The Bionic Woman way back when and has some experience in the genre, will be reprising her Warehouse 13 character, following in the footsteps of Eureka as part of Alphas‘ first crossover with Warehouse.

Casting such well-known names is a good way for shows like Alphas to rake in more viewers within their demographic, and it’s definitely a practice that’s been done by sci-fi shows before (Fringe with Leonard Nimoy, George Takei on Heroes, Summer Glau on The Big Bang Theory).  Just recently we heard that Mark Hammil and Carrie-Anne Moss will be guest-starring on the next season of Chuck (a show Glau has also guest starred on). There’s no doubt these people could warrant casting all on their own, but having the geek cred to go along with it certainly doesn’t hurt. (And the more women can become kickass geek icons, the better.)

The episode in which Summer Glau appears is slated to air on August 22nd, and Brent Spiner will appear in the September 12th episode, along with former Lostie Rebecca Mader.
