Chipotle customer talks to manager. Then she lets her in on little-known tidbit about the restaurant: ‘Same with Walmart’

If you’ve ever been near a Chipotle, chances are you’ve heard music in the building. Typically, you assume every location has its own music playing. From what one Chipotle employee learned, this isn’t true, spilling the tea about this discovery.
“Fun fact: every single Chipotle in the entire world has one radio station,” Ohio-based Chipotle worker Megan (@meganthelesbian) says, sitting in her workplace. “No matter where you are in the world, if you’re in a Chipotle, you’re listening to the same song.”
According to her, the chain has “one Chipotle radio station.”
The content creator further elaborates on this discovery in the caption, writing, “When I found this out from a Chipotle general manager, it literally blew my mind. Because what do you mean, every single person in the entire world that is sitting at a Chipotle is hearing the same exact song at the same exact time[?]”
Viewers Weigh In
Megan’s video amassed 2.4 million views, and some gushed over this revelation.
“Isn’t it romantic how we are all listening to the same song?” one viewer asked.
“I’m going to choose to believe this because it adds some magic and whimsy to an otherwise bleak experience,” another remarked.
Moreover, other customer service employees revealed this doesn’t only apply to the Mexican Grill but other businesses as well.
“Same with Walmart radio too,” one commenter stated.
“Texas Roadhouse does too,” a second said.
Is This A True Chipotle Fun Fact?
Even fellow alleged current and former Chipotle workers confirmed this.
“I worked at a Chipotle and emailed asking for the name of a song, and they said they couldn’t tell me unless I knew what time it played,” one employee shared.
“Yep and if you work there you’re listening to the same songs loop over and over,” a second added.
This piece of info seems to be by design, matching founder Steve Ells’ vision for the restaurant chain. According to Mashed, he believed music was essential in the overall restaurant experience. Instead of a radio station, as Megan stated, the music is compiled from playlists by Studio Orca owner Christopher Golub.
How the DJ selects each song is quite literally tailored to the vibe of the atmosphere while simultaneously ensuring it’s compatible with the building’s concrete floors and abundance of steel structure. Essentially, the outlet notes he handpicks “unique, upbeat, cross-genre” music. This is to make sure the tunes align with the mood. To this day, Golub still curates Chipotle’s monthly playlists that are available on Spotify.
