Mother Says Wendy’s Promised Free Frostys to Youth Athletes. Then Her Daughters Are Allegedly Denied: ‘Just Won 3 Trophies’

A Wendy’s offer has drawn attention after a mother said her daughters were denied a deal promising a free Frosty to young athletes wearing their uniforms. TikTok creator Katie Kasuboski-Green (@ktgreenss) says the girls had just finished competing at a dance contest and were still wearing their uniforms when the situation unfolded.
The mother says her daughters spent six hours at the competition, where they won three trophies before stopping at Wendy’s. But she says a Wendy’s employee told her the offer was only for sports like soccer and basketball and that dance did not qualify. She disagreed, telling the employee that her daughters’ competition was a sport.
The mother questioned why her daughters’ dance competition was not recognized the same way as other youth sports. In the caption, she wrote, “Wow…really Wendy’s!!! Dance isn’t a sport!!! After 6 hours of competition, won 3 trophies and was told it had to be soccer or basketball, stuff like that!!”

The video received support from many viewers, who said dance requires strength, endurance and years of training. Others pointed to cheerleading, marching band and figure skating as activities they believe are often not recognized as sports.
“Dance requires an insane amount of athleticism!” one commenter wrote. Another said, “My daughter was required to have a SPORTS physical on file to be on her dance team.” Several others argued that the employee should have honored the promotion because the girls had arrived wearing uniforms after competing.
Some viewers also pointed out that dance has received wider recognition in recent years, while others questioned why the employee would focus on limiting the promotion instead of simply honoring it. One commenter wrote, “Ultimately, why do the workers care if it’s being offered and anybody comes in with uniform they should just honor it.”
Not everyone agreed with the criticism of Wendy’s. Some viewers argued that not every competitive activity should automatically be considered a sport. One commenter compared winning a spelling bee trophy to winning a sports trophy and questioned where businesses should draw the line when offering promotions specifically for athletes.
The conversation also extended beyond dance itself. Many viewers said dance is not the only activity that faces questions about whether it should be considered a sport, with commenters mentioning cheerleading, figure skating and marching band as other examples.
Similar discussions surfaced after breakdancing was added as an Olympic sport for the Paris Games and after a sports reporter’s claim that figure skating was “not a sport” drew criticism from athletes and fans.
The mother has not shared whether Wendy’s has responded to the situation.
