After Trump Claims to Be ‘Abused More than Anybody in the History of This Country’, His Critic Points Him in the Right Direction

A clip currently circulating on social media shows Donald Trump making a rather bold claim about himself. On July 31, he discussed the controversial anti-weaponization fund, which he now describes as “dead”.
In May 2026 discussions about creating a $1.776 billion anti-weaponization fund were in full swing. Promoted heavily by Trump, this fund was intended to compensate individuals allegedly targeted by the government, including convicted January 6 rioters.
According to a circular issued by the Office of Public Affairs on May 18, 2026, the fund aimed to “provide a systematic process to hear and redress claims of others who suffered weaponization and lawfare.” The proposal faced significant backlash, notably from acting United States Attorney General Todd Blanche (who Trump credited with keeping him away from prison), and now appears to be dead in the water.
Trump underlined that the plans were never intended to benefit him personally: “This fund was not for me. This fund was for those people that have been weaponized, that have been abused. They attack my house, Mar-a-Lago, where I live.” He argued, “big damages should have been given to me”.

Trump added: “I think there’s a group of people in this country, history will show that were treated like nobody else has ever been treated. So badly, so horribly. … I probably was abused more than anybody in the history of our country.”
Trump also discussed acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and asserts that he is receiving unnecessary hate over matters related to the Anti-Weaponization Fund. He emphasizes Blanche’s competence and says he should be “approved.”
Broadcaster and journalist Mehdi Hasan, who has recently blasted Trump over Iran, shared the clip and expressed his opinion on Trump’s comments.

Trump says that he is “probably” the most abused person in history, but Mehdi Hasan wants him and others watching to know that his statement isn’t entirely accurate. Sharing a clip of Trump making this statement on his X account, Hasan wrote, “Four US presidents were assassinated.”
For those unfamiliar, Hasan is referring to Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy. They were the 16th, 20th, 25th, and 35th presidents of the United States, respectively. All four were shot and killed by individual assailants. Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley were all Republicans. Kennedy was part of the Democratic Party.
