‘Fake Station’: Journalist Asks Trump Why Iran Is Attacking American Allies, He Questions Her Journalistic Ethics Instead

With Iran attacking the United States and its allies, Americans are increasingly worried about their safety and well-being. In such a situation, people have many questions for their government, and the country’s press seems to be seeking answers from those in power.
In a clip that went viral on X (formerly Twitter) on July 21, 2026, a journalist asked Donald Trump about his administration’s plans regarding Iran, noting the country was showing ‘no signs’ of stopping its attacks. Trump pushed back on the premise of the question, asking the reporter what evidence she had for that claim and whether she knew something he didn’t.
Trump says Iran wants to meet ‘desperately‘
Rather than directly answering the reporter’s question about the U.S.’s next steps as Iran continues attacking American allies, Trump said Iranian officials want to meet with him ‘desperately,’ adding that he believes this is because Iran is being ‘decimated’ by the United States.
After this, Trump told the journalist that she did not have this piece of information regarding the internal negotiations between the US and Iran because she listened to the “fake station” she represented. He also told the reporter, “You don’t know anything,” and then repeated his earlier question, asking her if she knew something he didn’t. When the journalist urged him to tell her what he knew, he once again emphasized that Iran wanted to “desperately” meet him and others of his administration but said he would only meet them when they were willing to meet in a “meaningful way.”
Hegseth faces similar questions from Senator Jack Reed
On July 21, 2026, during a congressional hearing, Senator Jack Reed asked Pete Hegseth a series of questions related to Iran. When Reed asked if Hegseth was aware that Iran could close the Strait of Hormuz as retaliation, he replied in the affirmative.
As Reed continued to ask more questions on the topic, Hegseth interrupted him and accused the Biden administration of surrendering American boats to Iranian ships. Later, Reed accused Hegseth of not providing a full picture of what Iran might do if it retaliated against US attacks by President Donald Trump.
