Daisy Ridley Reading Lena Dunham’s Book Is the Most Delicious Kind of Chaos For a Friday

The internet broke for a moment when they spotted Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley clutching a book that looks like Famesick by Lena Dunham. Fans think Ridley’s reading it because she has shared experience with Dunham regarding an ex-costar.
A viral paparazzi photo of Ridley with a book in tow. It didn’t seem like she was trying hard to cover the title up, which is why social media users didn’t struggle to identify the book. Famesick is a memoir by Lena Dunham, where she describes the complicated relationship she had with her Girls costar, Adam Driver. Ridley, who played Rey Skywalker, also famously had Adam Driver as her co-star and romantic on-screen partner in the Star Wars franchise.
But why are fans snickering, as if Adam Driver is one big inside joke? It’s because Dunham felt complicated about Driver, as she mentioned in Famesick.
Adam Driver’s weird relationship with Lena Dunham
In chapter four of Dunham’s memoir, she wrote, “When Adam and I were alone, he spoke to me differently than he did when we were around other people. He told me what the work meant to him and hinted at what I meant to him.” She also recalled how Driver allegedly called her at seven in the morning to say hi.
Dunham dismissed Driver’s outrage in the book, but she also defended him in one interview. The director had grace for Driver since Girls was his and her first job. She also said that Driver is “a very, very serious work-focused private person.”
Regardless of Driver’s alleged violence, his complicated relationship with Dunham continued after the fact. There were no definite labels outside of co-star and director—friends at most, it seemed. Driver himself had a girlfriend.
Fans are having fun
In chapter five, Dunham described what looked to be the ending of a failed, toxic rom-com. The emotional build-up between the co-stars that came to a boiling point when Dunham was home alone. Driver knew that she was and supposedly rode all the way to her house and waited outside. At this point, Dunham was thoroughly confused on what she felt for Driver. So, she did the smartest thing she could do at that point. She didn’t respond to the doorbell or his calls and pretended to be asleep, even if she knew he was waiting outside.
She wrote about the experience, “If we crossed whatever boundary we were threatening to cross, the return to work would be tinged with humiliation.” They didn’t speak of the awkward visit later on. It seems that she made the right decision, because a month later, Driver revealed he got engaged to his girlfriend.
It’s no surprise that the internet was freaking out when they saw Ridley with Dunham’s book. Maybe she’s reading it for the laughs but regardless, the Reylo fandom has be having a grand ole time with it.
