Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, and More MAGA Grifters Are Apologizing for Supporting Trump. Too Little, Too Late

Are former supporters of President Donald Trump feeling a bit of buyer’s remorse? Or are they just embarrassed that their association looks bad on them? It looks like it’s a little bit of both, to which I say, “Oh no! Anyway.” Perhaps you should have thought about that earlier on, hmm?
Ex-Fox News Host Tucker Carlson is the most recent regretful acolyte, bringing it to the forefront on Monday’s episode of his podcast, “The Tucker Carlson Show,” where he was speaking with his brother Buckley Carlson, a former Trump speechwriter.
“It’s, like, in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now,” Carlson said. “So I do think it’s like a moment to wrestle with our own consciences. You know, we’ll be tormented by it for a long time. Clearly there were signs of low character. We knew that. There are tons of people of low character who, like, outperform their character. It doesn’t have to be sort of the norm actually these days. I say I’ve outperformed my character a lot. I don’t have especially high character, right? But you know, you try to, whatever, you try your best.”
Carlson is just the latest and probably will not be the last
Trump has expressed his displeasure with Carlton–and other right-wing influencers such as Alex Jones–in recent months who have begun to express their displeasure with the president. Carlson himself has grown increasingly critical of the decisions made by Trump and his administration, including how they have handled the Jeffrey Epstein files, as well as the recent war against Iran. Carlson himself has said that the war is the “single biggest mistake” by Trump or any president in his lifetime, and has called Trump a “slave” to Israel in the past.
It was just a few weeks ago that saw Trump’s tirade against Carlson, Jones, Megyn Kelly, and Candance Owens. The president–because it is important to remember that this man is in charge of the free world–called them “stupid people,” “NUT JOBS,” and “TROUBLEMAKERS” who “will say anything necessary for some ‘free’ and cheap publicity.”
Honestly, it seems like these particular defectors are worried about their own image and are tired of having to explain their continued connection to somebody as unfit for the presidency as Trump. None of them genuinely feel bad for what Trump has done to not only America but to the world at large.
This could have been stopped so much sooner, and for four years, it was. Instead, Carlson and co. let Trump get elected for another term despite knowing how unfit he would be for it. Sorry, but I’m not buying your “remorse.”
