RFK Jr. drops jaw-dropping defense of Trump’s Iran threat that even Republicans won’t touch

Powered by blind loyalty.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. just defended one of the most explosive posts of the year, calling President Donald Trump’s threat to wipe out Iran’s “whole civilization” a “message of love and compassion to the Iranian people.” His comments came during a heated House hearing on April 17, 2026, where lawmakers grilled him over Trump’s mental fitness after a string of controversial posts that have left even Republicans uneasy.

According to People, the Health Secretary didn’t just stop at defending the post. He doubled down, insisting Trump’s words were a strategic masterstroke. “You can look at it and say, ‘Oh, it’s insane that he’d make this kind of threat,’” Kennedy said. “But he’s a dealmaker. He’s a bargainer.”

RFK Jr., as he is popularly known, was making this argument for Trump’s April 7 Truth Social post, which warned that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” was actually a two-pronged message: brute force for Iran’s leadership and warmth for its people. The post ended with a line that Kennedy latched onto: “God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

If you’re scratching your head, you’re not alone

The post in question reads like a mix of apocalyptic warning and last-minute optimism. Trump wrote, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?”

It continued, “We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!” The reaction was immediate. Democrats, including California Rep. Mark Takano, pressed Kennedy on whether Trump should undergo a mental fitness assessment or be removed from office via the 25th Amendment.

Kennedy shut it down, calling Trump “a genius at” international relations and “the most stable” president. He even went as far as to say there hasn’t “been a president who is more sane.”

This isn’t the first time Trump’s posts have sparked outrage, and it’s not even the most recent. Over the April 5 Easter weekend, he demanded Iran open the “F—in’ Strait” of Hormuz to oil tankers, adding, “you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!” The profanity-laced rant was just one of several posts that have drawn condemnation.

Earlier, he shared a now-deleted AI-generated image of himself as a Messiah-like figure, followed by another depicting Jesus Christ embracing him amid a feud with Pope Leo XIV. When asked about these, Kennedy didn’t flinch, calling Trump “the best business bargainer that we’ve ever had in the presidency.”

Trump’s rhetoric hasn’t been limited to foreign threats

He’s also taken aim at domestic opponents, calling California Gov. Gavin Newsom “a stupid person” while bringing up his dyslexia, and labeling former President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as “low IQ.” During a March 26 Cabinet meeting, he boasted about taking a cognitive test three times, claiming, “It’s actually a very hard test for a lot of people. It wasn’t hard for me.”

He even joked about the 25th Amendment during an event with children at the White House Easter Egg Roll, saying, “I don’t want a stupid person being president.” Despite the backlash, Trump’s team is framing his posts as strategic brilliance. The ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, which took hold earlier this month, is being touted as proof that his approach works.

Trump himself claimed on April 17 that further progress was made following a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. The conflict, which escalated after a U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran on February 28, has killed thousands, mostly in Iran and Lebanon.

Kennedy’s defense of Trump’s post is a bold move, especially given the bipartisan unease. Even some of Trump’s former allies, like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Tucker Carlson, have distanced themselves from the rhetoric. But Kennedy isn’t backing down, arguing that Trump’s style is exactly what the country needs. “He’s a dealmaker,” Kennedy repeated, as if that alone justifies the threats, the profanity, and the AI-generated messiah imagery.

If you’re wondering how this plays out, the answer is: unpredictably. Trump’s posts have a way of dominating the news cycle, and this latest defense from Kennedy is no exception. Whether you see it as genius or recklessness, one thing is clear – this administration thrives on controversy. The question now is how far Trump can push before even his staunchest defenders start to waver. For now, Kennedy is all in.
