‘Don’t go on dates, okay?’: Woman thinks the awkward date can’t get worse. Then she discovers he has a baby due in 2 weeks

Going on a first date after months away from dating can feel awkward enough. But some things are probably worth mentioning before the date even starts, especially when a major life change is only days away.
One woman thought her date was going fairly well despite a few things she found strange. Then they started talking about children, and she learned he had left out one very important detail.
Things only got more awkward from there. A missing wallet and an uncharged car added to the afternoon before TikTok creator Brittany Bowen (@brittanyybowen) decided she had seen enough.
Well, that was unexpected
Brittany says this was her first date since February. The man initially contacted her through DMs and asked to take her out, but their plans did not work out, and she stopped responding for a few months. When he later asked again, she eventually agreed to meet him for lunch.
The two were not complete strangers because Brittany says they had mutual friends and had previously been around each other in larger groups. He picked her up around 1 p.m. on a Tuesday, and they went to a brunch spot. She says he was “really cute” and that they initially had a “great conversation.”
One thing did catch her attention early in the meal. Her date ordered a beer and drank it through a straw, allegedly explaining that he did not want to put his lips on the restaurant glass because it was “very unsanitary.” Brittany even says she recorded it because she could not believe what she was seeing.
Still, the date continued, and the pair eventually started discussing children and “baby mamas.” Brittany says she told him that she personally does not want to date someone who already has children because she does not want the complications that can come with it.
That was when the man told her he had a son. Brittany was confused because he did not have a child when she saw him six to eight months earlier. She assumed his son had been born since then, but he told her, “Well, she’s due in two weeks.”
The man allegedly said the pregnancy came from a “one time thing” and that he and the woman were not together. But having a baby on the way was already a dealbreaker for Brittany. “I personally don’t think that you should be dating when you have a kid on the way,” she says, arguing that his focus should be on preparing for fatherhood.
Things got more awkward when it was time to pay. Brittany says the restaurant did not accept Apple Pay, and her date admitted he had not brought his wallet. Brittany refused to cover the bill, but the server was able to process his card information from his phone. Afterward, she agreed to keep the date going, only to find his Tesla needed charging.
Brittany is hardly the only woman to decide a first date was going nowhere after an unexpected conversation. According to Brittany, the man then suggested they go charge the Tesla and “Netflix and chill” inside the car while they waited.
Viewers had plenty to say about the date, but many kept coming back to how soon the man was allegedly expecting his baby. “Two weeks from having a baby ? … oh no he dont need to date anyone,” one commenter wrote. “That adult, who didn’t bring his wallet OR charge his transportation, is about to be responsible for a tiny HUMAN?” one person asked. Another joked, “he was interviewing you for the babysitting position.”
For Brittany, however, there was no question about whether there would be another date. She ended her story with one request for men expecting children: “Please don’t go on dates, okay?”
