Acting AG Todd Blanche confirms that he’s there to “execute the president’s agenda”

Todd Blanche says it’s not a crime to party with Epstein

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche was grilled by reporters on former Attorney General Pam Bondi’s abrupt removal. When asked why President Donald Trump fired Bondi, Blanche defended the decision, regardless of what Trump’s intentions may be for doing so.

“Can you just expand on your comment that nobody has any idea that Ms. Bondi is no longer the attorney general? It seems like it’s kind of a problem if you don’t know what it is the president wants you guys to be doing better,” a correspondent asked the acting attorney general.

Blanche immediately defended Trump and called the question assumptive.

“The point is, I don’t operate everyday trying to second-guess what President Trump or anybody else is thinking. I just operate every day on doing everything that I need to do to execute the president’s agenda and priorities,” Blanche says. He practically confesses to being Trump’s errand runner.

He adds, “And I’m not alone in that. I hope every single person that has the privilege to serve in this administration is doing the exact same thing… I grow tired of people in the media saying why President Trump did or didn’t do something, because President Trump is the only one who knows that.”

Are reporters not allowed to ask tough questions?

It’s part of the media’s job to ask questions and decipher what the president means through a statement. Reporting on facts is an obligation, but it’s also the responsibility of reporters to ask for clarifications—most especially if it concerns public interest. AG Pam Bondi was already under fire over her leadership, especially with her handling of the Epstein files.

Infamously, she maintained that all materials demanded by the Epstein Files Transparency Act had already been released. But under bipartisan pressure, Bondi was subpoenaed to testify about the handling of the controversial files. Instead of answering the panel directly, Bondi deflected and skirted around pertinent questions.

Now, it’s widely speculated that Bondi has been fired for her mismanagement of the Epstein files. The issue has not died down, and Americans are still demanding answers even if Trump has gone to war with Iran. Her photo at the Department of Justice trash bin aside, Trump sent her off warmly through a Truth Social post. He stated that she will be “transitioning to a much-needed and important new job in the private sector.”

With how she handled the Epstein files and the subsequent firing, it’s only natural that reporters—and regular citizens are asking for an explanation. Without a direct answer, the situation leaves room for speculation.

Cabinet appointees also have a duty to the people

But even if a president chooses his cabinet appointees, they also have a responsibility to the people. The attorney general, in particular, is responsible for overseeing and enforcing the law. In Bondi’s case, she was expected to be objective about investigating the Epstein files. She was supposed to be neutral when it came to prosecutions. She was a cabinet member, but she is not supposed to be constrained by the White House in her decision-making.

Likewise, Blanche holds the same responsibility. Should he assume the role long-term, he is not just an executor of the president’s will. He also has a responsibility to the people. Blanche shouldn’t be in his post just to enact the president’s agenda. He is there to advise the president and uphold the rule of law. He’s allowed to question Trump, but that depends on whether he has the courage to.
