Project Hail Mary Gets It’s Own Limited Soda, and Here’s Where You Can Get It

Project Hail Mary has a brand-new limited edition soda. But, you’re going to have to go hunting for it. Ryan Gosling neglected to tell us that his new movie has its own Starry flavor.

Folks noticed when they made a trip to their local Regal locations this weekend. For about $7.99, you too can get in on the new Starry Astrophage Burst. It comes in a 24-ounce size, which is perfect to get you through a movie and that massive popcorn you probably bought. 300 different Regal locations are currently offering the flavor and hopefully you can taste it for yourself.

Starry Astrophage Burst is the latest concoction from Drips by Pepsi (an answer to the more freestyle offerings of the competition.) Before you get involved with all of that, you’re probably wondering, what does a bursting Astrophage taste like? Well, it takes the lemon-lime of regular Starry and adds in blue raspberry, cherry and some “candy berry gummy clusters.” If you’ve got a sweet tooth, that sounds like a bop. (It has the candy inside as a nod to Gosling’s buddy Rocky from Project Hail Mary. You’ve probably heard about his beef with Elmo by now…)

People have been liking these Drips by Pepsi offerings. Some of them have the candy or like boba pearls at the bottom. It’s a bit of a trip to see movie theaters going full Starbucks Secret Menu. But, with how a lot of these entertainment centers function now, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. If the Astrophage isn’t your jam, there’s a cotton candy lemonade with candy boba at the bottom. Or, for the cherry Pepsi lovers among us, a Pepsi Cherry Boba Burst? Sounds like a good bet to me. And, to make the coffee chain comparison literal, here’s watermelon Starry with a big dragonfruit wedge in it!

Project Hail Mary’s promo train heats up

There’s no doubt that Project Hail Mary is taking the Internet by storm. If you saw those first reactions and wondered what all the fuss was about, you are not alone. Almost universal effusive praise filled multiple social media networks when critics got the chance to see Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s latest flick. Gosling is amazing in this one, to be sure. In fact, a lot of critics think that Project Hail Mary is the first great movie of 2026. And, talking to our Rachel Leishman, they’re not wrong. Her review points out how universal the idea of connection is for mankind. By tapping into that emotion, the film couldn’t have gone wrong.

“Ultimately, Project Hail Mary is more than just another space adventure. It is more than just another story of surviving and mankind’s need to do so,” Leishman argues. “Instead, it is a movie about connection and understanding one another, something we need now more than ever. Ryland could have left Rocky behind and vice versa but the two meet, work together, and bond.”

We’ve had a lot of social media stunts over the last couple of years. People trying to find different ways to lock into the zeitgeist around different movies and random trends. But, some of our favorite studios have forgotten that you need a truly dynamite film to kick off a Wicked-esque frenzy over the latest release at the Multiplex. You don’t get the “Summer of Superman” without a positively heroic tale to hang its hat on. In short, expect a lot of people to drink that soda.
