You know, it’s rather tricky to find a picture or screen shot of Sarah Jane and an agent of Torchwood together. I suppose there was really only one or two episodes where that could have happened, but still. Get those screenshots up on Google image search, people!
Brian Minchin has been named Doctor Who‘s new executive producer, following the departure of Caroline Skinner from the position.
Minchin cut his teeth in the Doctor Who universe as an assistant producer on several BBC produced documentaries on the filming of Davies era Torchwood and Who episodes, and rose to the producer credit for The Sarah Jane Adventures and later Torchwood: Miracle Day, as well as, outside the Whoniverse, Dirk Gently and Wizards vs. Aliens.
I’m thrilled and excited to be joining Steven Moffat on a show that has meant so much to me over the years. I’ve watched in awe as Steven has taken Doctor Who to wild and imaginative places and I can’t wait to get started on many more adventures with The Doctor.
Caroline Skinner left Doctor Who for the BBC Drama Production somewhat suddenly about a month ago, Minchin is filling her role as co-executive producer alongside Steven Moffat, who says he’s glad to have Minchin back after losing him, shortly after Moffat’s own start as Who showrunner, to The Sarah Jane Adventures. Whether or not you find this to be encouraging probably has to do with how much you liked the Davies era and Torchwood: Miracle Day, so I’ll leave that discussion up to the comments!
