Questlove Tweets a #WrinkleChallenge to Help Kids See A Wrinkle in Time For Free

Questlove is following in the footsteps of future astronaut Taylor Richardson and helping to raise money for young kids to see Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time. He began tweeting the #WRINKLEchallenge at other celebrities, urging them to donate to Color of Change’s fundraiser to buy children opening weekend tickets. “It’s IMPORTANT that children see this film,” he tweeted.

Color of Change launched their “Give a Child the Universe” initiative, in partnership with AMC, to allow you to donate a ticket so that kids can see a matinée showing of A Wrinkle in Time on opening day, March 9, 2018, for free. And as the premiere date approaches, Questlove is challenging his fellow celebrities—including Oprah, Jemele Hill, Anthony Anderson, and Rosario Dawson—to donate to the cause.

Director Ava DuVernay quoted his tweet, calling the challenge a “gorgeous” initiative.

We saw similar campaigns kick off in the lead-up to Marvel’s Black Panther, with the #BlackPantherChallenge raising more than $300,000 for young people around the world to see the film. Representation matters, for children of all incomes and identities, and more and more people across the world are celebrating that.

As Rashad Robinson, the executive director of Color Of Change, said: “By casting a black teenage actress Storm Reid as the heroine at the center of this story, the filmmakers and the studio send a powerful message to millions of young people who will see someone like them embracing their individuality and strength to save the world. We are pleased to partner with AMC to ensure that as many young people as possible, regardless of economic and financial hardships, can see this groundbreaking film.”
