This Atomic Blonde Is Making Me Feel So Many Things At Once

My emotions!

Despite what some critics are saying about the film, I am excited for Atomic Blonde. What’s not to love about a badass woman taking out a guy in the backseat of a car with her fancy red heels?

Charlize Theron stars in this thrilling action flick about Agent Lorraine Broughton, a member of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, who is “equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery.”  She is sent on an impossible mission to Berlin to deliver an important package out of the city.

With instability in the air, she’ll need to partner up with station chief David Percival (played by James McAvoy) to navigate her way through a network of deadly spies. Yep, the John Wick vibes are strong with this one. I mean, she did spar with Keanu Reeves while training for the movie so there’s at least an off-screen connection.

Still, this movie sets itself apart because the main protagonist is a woman—an atomic blonde to be exact. Bonus points for her being comfortable with her sexuality without that pesky slut shaming attached.

Atomic Blonde heads to theaters on July 18.
