Sky Brown turned 8 years old this past summer, but that’s not the only exciting thing that happened to her: she also was the youngest girl to compete in the Vans US Open Pro Series. This very young pro skateboarder did fall off her board a couple of times at the Vans competition, but she still managed to wow her fellow competitors and the press! She was probably a little nervous during the competition, anyway, since it’s obvious from her many practice videos that she can do some very complicated tricks. (via Quartz)

- HBO’s robot-centric drama Westworld is fast approaching the airdate for its first episode on October 2! The network has just released a behind-the-scenes featurette featuring interviews with producers J.J. Abrams and Jonthan Nolan, and some of the cast-members as well. (via Blastr)

- Archie Comics is putting out a Reggie-centric series, so we can read all about Archie’s self-aggrandizing antagonist.
- NY Mag has an in-depth interview with Ava DuVernay about her projects, past and future. There’s lots of fascinating stuff in there, but here’s one highlight: DuVernay didn’t say yes to helming A Wrinkle In Time until Disney exec Tendo Nagenda sent her Hope Larson’s graphic novel adaptation: “There was something about the way Meg was drawn. I read it that night — the graphic-novel version — then I ordered the real thing to my iPad and stayed up the whole night reading.”
