Things We Saw Today: Dogs Flown to Orlando to Comfort Survivors

A group of 12 comfort dogs from Chicago were flown out to Florida to help provide comfort to survivors of the horrific events that took place in Orlando on Sunday. The power of an emotional support animal should not be discounted, and a quick look at the Kye Comfort Dog Facebook page can show you why. (via The Dodo)

NASA has recently released a series of recruitment posters seeking astronauts to charge bravely into the huge, gaping, bleak, darkness of space. It seems they drew inspiration from WWI and WWII recruitment posters, judging by both the seemingly hand-painted texture and the callbacks to actual recruitment posters; the “We Need You” poster, for example.   • While you’re working in space, don’t forget to stop and take a break. Maybe you can bring this Star Trek edition of Risk up with you so you can finally duke it out to find out which starship crew is better. (via io9)
  • Dark Horse is coming out with a pair of comic books based on some of your favorite shows and movies: Avatar: The Last Airbender and Serenity. They’re currently up for preorder, with a release date slated for October 25th.
