The astronauts up at the International Space Station just got a new toy to play with and no, it’s not more space disaster movies. They’ve now got a 4K UHD camera to help them better document their experiments and findings. The more detail they can get into a video, the better, seeing as how all of this footage gets sent back to us here on Earth for even more analysis. There’s things we miss by not being live and in person as these experiments are being performed, so the next best thing is giving our scientists up there an even better camera.
In this video specifically, astronaut Scott Kelly shows off the capabilities of his new camera using a ball of water and food coloring. Oh, also, an effervescent tablet. As Business Insider points out, you can watch individual bubbles pop off of the water ball as the effervescent tablet dissolves. The results are gorgeous, and we cannot wait to see what 4K videos NASA decides to release.
