Batman v Superman‘s Alfred Will “Do Anything He Has To,” Says Jeremy Irons

Recommended Videos

Jeremy Irons’ portrayal of Alfred in Batman v Superman will be unlike any Alfred you’ve ever seen before. Because, uh, this time Jeremy Irons will be playing him? But also because his rendition of Alfred will have a real can-do attitude, or so Irons assured the Toronto Sun:

Zack Snyder, the director, wanted to create a completely different Alfred. So I felt I didn’t have to carry any baggage from previous ones. It’s sort of a reincarnation if you’d like. I had a feeling I was creating my own Alfred, more of a man who can actually do anything if he has to.

It’s not as though we’ve never seen more proactive iterations on Alfred’s character before, though; Sean Pertwee’s fisticuff-ready Alfred on Gotham springs to mind, for example. Nonetheless, Irons’ assertion that Alfred will “do anything if he has to” sounds a bit ominous. Anything, eh? Even … tap-dancing?
