Netflix Releases First Trailer for The Wachowskis’ Sense8

"Do you know what it means to be reborn a Sense8?"

The Wachowskis excel at telling stories about the underlying truth of things and how interconnected we are as human beings. Now, they’re bringing their unique sensibility to our smaller screens, while partnering with with TV vet J. Michael Straczynski, on their ambitious new Netflix series, Sense8. Netflix just released the show’s first trailer – check it out!

I’m excited for this show! It seems deceptively “low-budget” (for a Wachowski project), which means that the ideas will get to come out and play and have to stand on their own. It also means that the cast has a lot of work to do in drawing us in. That said, this international cast is as promising as the Wachowski/Straczynski pedigree, and will deliver a truly diverse sci-fi offering. As The Daily Dot reports:

It was filmed all over the world using a cast of international actors, playing characters ranging from a closeted Mexican telenovela star to a Korean businesswoman (regular Wachowski collaborator Doona Bae), an African bus driver, and a transgender American blogger. The trailer gives us a glimpse of each of the Sense8 eight, showing how they begin to share one another’s experiences and skills.

What do you think? Will you be watching Sense8 when it drops June 5th?
