A dedicated Final Fantasy VII fan and computer science student used LittleBigPlanet 2 and 3‘s game-making tools to rebuild FFVII from scratch, and it came out an adorable, bizarre, perfect homage. What you see above is just the beginning; after two years, countless hours of work, and 31 levels, Jamie Colliver has uploaded his reimagining of one of the most beloved RPGs of all time for you to watch in the YouTube playlist or play through on your own in LittleBigPlanet2/3.

The remake includes all of the game’s dialogue, cutscenes, music, side quests, characters, and all five battle-ready materia types. Speaking of which, it also features a battle system with Limit Breaks and everything. It’s an intense labor of love that took four to six hours a day, five to seven days a week to complete, as Colliver told The Escapist.

Take note, Square. We wouldn’t mind the same level of dedication—proportionally adjusted for people who do it as a full time job—on any actual remakes anyone might feel like doing. Just putting that out there.
