The Third Hobbit Film’s Got A Logo, And Bard The Bowman Talks About The Title Change

And So It Begins

Aaaaand there it is. About what you’d expect.

We’ve seen a fair amount of grumbling about the new title, with most complaints hinging on worries that the third installment of the Hobbit movie trilogy is going to be one long, skull-splitting slog. Now, don’t get me wrong — I love muddy, bloody fantasy scuffles as much as the next person, and the Battle of the Five Armies has been something I’ve been imagining since grade school. But it’s also a pretty slim bit of book, and three hours is a whole lot of movie. I get where those qualms are coming from. If you share them, this recent interview with actor Luke Evans (Bard the Bowman) probably isn’t going to make you feel much better.

Speaking with Digital Spy, Evans commented on the change, saying that he thinks the switch is spot on.

I actually think it’s absolutely right because when it was two films There and Back Again would’ve been the second film’s title. Now it’s three films it’s become redundant…We have the Battle of the Five Armies which we focus on, it’s a very important part of the story. I think it’s right, I think it’s appropriate that it’s changed and I think Peter [Jackson] would’ve thought about it with a lot of care.

I think the decision’s right – when you see the film you’ll understand exactly why.

I foresee a serious amount of goblin gore this winter.
