76-year-old woman ‘not accepting’ of her ex-husband’s new relationship shoots him and girlfriend
Such a tragic situation.

A 76-year-old Georgia woman has been arrested after allegedly shooting her 75-year-old ex-husband and his 40-year-old girlfriend because she was “not accepting” of their relationship. She also reportedly shot the girlfriend’s 55-year-old mother, though not fatally.
The woman, Grace Edge Hanson, was taken into custody on Monday and charged with seven counts, including three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of malice murder, and two counts of felony murder. She is currently being held in the Toombs County Detention Center.
‘She just come in and start shooting’
The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office posted a press release to Facebook detailing the event. According to the release, around 2:19 pm on October 19, 2026, deputies responded to a call about a shooting at a residence. Diane Cook, the mother of the 40-year-old girlfriend, had allegedly called 911 after seeing Hanson (who, unlike some other exes, did not hire a hitman) shoot her daughter and the ex-husband.
WTOC obtained a copy of the 911 call where Cook can be heard frantically explaining what she had just witnessed. On the call, she reportedly told the dispatcher, “She just come in and start shooting.”
When the dispatcher asked for clarification as to whether Hanson came in arguing before shooting or simply just came into the house shooting, Cook replied, “No, she come in just shooting.”
When first responders arrived and entered the residence, they found Pamela Cook and Wallace Edge dead from their wounds. Diane Cook was reportedly shot in the arm, but the injury was non-life-threatening.
The press release stated, “Wallace [Edge’s] former spouse, Grace Edge, immediately became a person of strong interest. Shortly thereafter, Grace was arrested.”
As it turned out, Hanson seemingly drove directly from her ex’s house to the sheriff’s office to turn herself in.
The former marriage between Hanson and her husband was reportedly troubled
Though Hanson and her husband finalized their divorce over a decade ago, the two reportedly continued an on-and-off relationship, at least until he began dating Pamela. Sheriff Jordan Kight reportedly told WTOC, “Mr. Edge had started dating Pamela, and it appears that, based on information we received, that Grace was not accepting of the situation.”
The former couple also supposedly had a history of domestic dispute incidents, with deputies having been called to the couple’s home at least a dozen times. While the two would report each other, apparently no arrests were ever made.
Comments on the police’s press release on Facebook seemed to support officials’ claims of having been called to the couple’s home for domestic violence. One Facebook user wrote, “A lifetime of abuse, both mental and physical, can traumatize someone.”
Another added, “This is exactly why Domestic Violence should never be ignored. The escalated end result is never pleasant. The first time it happens is when it needs to be addressed.”
