There’s been a lot of discussion over the promo image for Doctor Who series seven. Tumblr user toughtink decided to play with some role reversal with it. (via Tough Tink)

  • A gay couple in New York took some adorable engagement photos–which were used a year after the fact by a group of conservatives in Colorado as an attack on gay marriage. Read more about this at The Frisky.

DC HeroClix continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary, this time with Batgirl and Oracle. Here’s Oracle:

  • Apparently The Wire‘s Dominic West turned down a role in Game of Thrones. We are remarkably happy with the existing cast of GoT, but…Dominic West! It’s also possible given the description he gave that he was offered the role of Mance Rayder, King Beyond the Wall. C’mon, Dominic! (via Huffington Post)

Youtuber Chris Kendall showed us how we can all instantly cosplay Bane:

Twitter has leaked into the “real world” so much these days that someone took it upon themselves to “invent” the equivalent of finger air-quotes, this time to indicate you’re speaking in hashtags. (via Guardian)

    Considering some of the dribble on Facebook, it’s sad that something cool like that cosplay isn’t considered appropriate there.

    The concept is beautiful, the drawing is gorgeously done, but it just doesn’t fit Amy. If it was any other (new series) companion it would be possible to believe, but not Amy. (This girl explains it in details:

     Yes but Amy is so unbearably lame that some of us would prefer if it did ‘fit’ her.

    I literally gave up on the new series mainly because of her. Matt Smith is adorable but Amy is just intolerable.

     That would be admitting that they were wrong and that they have no idea what their fans actually want in comics, which is something they would never do. They are all-mighty DC! Do not question them!
    The only new 52 titles I’ve been reading consistently are Batwoman, Green Lantern, and Batman, because they more or less continue on from where they ended in the old universe with a minimum of retconning. I just try my best to ignore Barbara Gordon Batgirl whenever she turns up. I was really starting to like Stephanie Brown as Batgirl, and Oracle was one of my favorite characters ever.
    Why, DC? Why!?

    I’ve been reading the fantastic Swamp Thing/Animal Man series and GL, but the Bat books, Teen Titans, Super Family…pretty much all their flagship titles are shit. Especially Batgirl! I was loving Stephanie Brown, too, and all of the Batgirl stuff I see looks like retreading…they had to de-brain Oracle and take away most of her assets to get her back in the costume.

    I suppose that they could just keep trying to fix the universe via epic mini series, ala Marvel…No More Mutants sucks? Okay, we’ll give you Hope…Hope story falling apart? Okay, here’s FIVE Phoenixes (that’s four more than usual!). That sucks? We’ll integrate the X-Men WITH the Avengers! (That will suck, too). Although Marvel NOW looks interesting…

    And goddamit, I miss Vertigo.

     Agreed. Amy started out so strong and then after she got married, Moffat decided she was fixed and started taking all of her agency away and handing it to the men in her life. Now she’s just a complete damsel.

    So the Doctor decided to wipe her out of existence…
