And Now: Genderswapped Steampunk Iron Man

Michele of The Suitcase Studio wore this outfit, designed by her husband and stitched by her mother-in-law, to WonderCon in Anaheim last week. I guess the family that cosplays together, stays together.

At what point does a cosplay become so removed from it’s original inspiration that it ceases to be cosplay and becomes just an excuse to wear fancy clothes? I love seeing cosplay in all it’s forms of course and this is no criticism of the brilliant costume featured above.

But it seems an almost philosophical question. There has to be a line somewhere.

I feel the only way to tell is for someone to create a Zombie Steampunk Genderswapped Adventure Time/Iron Man mash up… wearing a Jayne hat.

    Not very ‘Iron’ is it?

    Love it! Very creative!

What if they consider it a genderswapped Lord Iron, the 1602 version of Iron Man in Earth-311? She could call herself Lady Iron. Much closer.

I mean, you know what 1602 is, right?

I’d rather see her as a gender swapped alternate reality steampunk cyberman-styled Iron Man as a Disney Princess. Then you’d have something.

    Brass Woman?

Given that she does have red hair, isn’t possible that this is just steampunk Rescue?

I absolutely think that I need a movie to be based around this premise like now…. :3

This looks surprisingly similar to the steam punk lieutenant that was in the production of Treasure Island at Theatre in the Round last night. I’m glad I didn’t see this until afterwards, or I’d have been chuckling about Iron Man trying to catch pirates the whole time.
