Cosplay That Really Impressed Us From Comic-Con 2013

[View All on One Page]

Like we did last year, rather than trying to make a “best of” San Diego Comic-Con cosplay roundup, we’ve pulled together some of the work that impressed us the most. It’s not comprehensive, we know we missed a lot, but it’s an event with 250,000 people so we hope you’ll cut us some slack. Without further ado, here’s some cosplay that impressed us at SDCC 2013. Cosplayers, we salute you!

OMG the Galaxy Quest cosplayers! <3

I think that Cyborg one has to be the best. Unf! What attention to detail and hotness.

  • Esmé Lloyd-Baldwin

Saga cosplayers exist! I am so happy!

  • Anonymous

I did not expect the Saga one., so kudos to them. They’re all great, though! The detail is amazing on so many of them like Cyborg, the demon one and Spider Woman (for lack of a better name).

Wow, that Aqua Man could get it. <3

He must be working out, because that shit can’t be light en masse.

That Pepper cosplay is so spot-on! I love seeing these, gives me something to aspire to!

I think that Arya is actually Rule 63 Bronn, has that same dagger in the scabbard at the small of the back.

Those are awesome though, that second one is FRIGHTENING

We saw another Saga couple with an actual baby. He had teeny horns. It was the cutest damn thing I have EVER seen.

I cosplayed Black Widow’s Work Wife outfit from Hawkeye, and it was a pretty awesome litmus test to see who reads the Hawkeye comic. :D

Oh shoot, you’re right! I shall edit that. Thanks!

    Rufio, Rufio RU-FI-OOOOOOoooooo

I’m so so so so pleased that someone cosplayed Guy Fleegman. “BECAUSE I DIED… IN EPISODE 81!”

A lot of these are really convincing. I’m waiting for the year when someone crashes a movie panel and nobody in the audience can tell the difference.

  • Robert Vary

Seriously! It’s hard to tell from the picture if any of that’s real metal (which it very well may be), but even if it’s all, I don’t know, really really well-worked fiberglass or cardboard or foam or something there’s just so MUCH of it.

  • Sarah Brockman

The detail on the scale mail for the Aquaman costume is impressive and must have taken forever. Kudos dude, on actual (but not quite battle level) armor.

  • Tink

I’ve seen that Aquaman close up – those scales are AWESOME!

  • Natalie Willoughby

YAY! I’m glad you thought of that too :)

    There’s a Zorg behind Rufio!

  • Lemmons998

Came down here to make the same comment!

  • Lola Arcana

    That was my main thought!

I’m thinking it might be cintra (which is a plastic sheet you can heat up and form) covered in sliver paint. I mean don’t get me wrong it is super impressive, that shit takes some skills.

  • Robert Vary

I hadn’t heard of cintra before! Sounds neat. Whether it is that or not, the very fact that we can’t really tell what it’s made out of – or whether it is, for sure, metal or not – says a lot about the skills right there.

  • http://mangabotblog3000.popanime.net/ Brand

No, I agree the dude has some mad skill. Something like that made out of metal though would be crazy. It would be so heavy and hot, it wouldn’t even be funny.

  • Amanda LaPergola

More like Aqua DAMN, am I right?

  • Mark Brown

Of course with a layer of Atlantean-strength hide under it, it would be battle-level armour.

Love seeing Mass Effect and the Lara Croft/Nathan Drake team-up. How cool would it be if Naughty Dog and Crystal Dynamics collaborated on a Uncharted Tomb Raider co-op game?

  • Sandy

… youre impressed with a woman in a bra wearing a replica of ironmans glove that can be bought on ebay?
