Samuel Deats is an artist, animator, and director who’s worked on Darksiders 2, DC Universe Online, and both Epic Mickey games. He calls this piece, featuring, to name but a few, Marcus Phoenix, Samus Aran, and the female Barbarian of Diablo III, “Gamer Girl.”

    Pretty awesome … but I wish he’d stuck closer to the fem-barb in DIII. She was a lot sturdier than that.

    I like this, but I can’t help cringing that she’s wearing a short skirt and is basically framing her vag with the controller…

    Seems a little too sexified for me. Nothing like reinforcing that only sexy-girls are gamers, and that they have to wear short skirts and highlight their girl parts with the controller, seems contrary to the whole idea taking hold about girls that game.
