Woman Checks Her Zaxby’s Order Before Eating It. One Look at Her Chicken Tender and She’s Never Going Back: ‘I Cannot Make This Up’
Fast-food complaint videos on TikTok rarely stay small for long, especially when the allegation is strange enough to make people replay the clip just to figure out what they are seeing. That seems to be what is happening again.
Now, a resurfaced TikTok video is drawing attention after a customer shared an unusual claim about a meal she purchased from Zaxby’s. The clip has spread across social media through a repost, attracting thousands of views and comments as it continues to circulate online.
The video was reposted by TikTok account @dudeitwentviral, though it was originally shared by TikTok creator @jenaimeints. The creator alleges she discovered an unexpected object while checking her Zaxby’s order before eating it.
Then something caught her attention
The video begins with the creator examining what appears to be part of a chicken tender from her order. Holding the item up to the camera, she says, “I cannot make this up.” She then tells viewers, “I went to get my chicken.”
As she pulls apart the breaded item, she makes the allegation at the center of the video. “It’s paper.” She continues, “They literally fried fucking paper.” Before ending the clip, she says, “They’re not about to like me.”
The claim has not been independently verified. The object shown in the video also cannot be conclusively identified based on the footage alone.
The video is another example of how customers are increasingly taking a closer look at their fast-food orders before eating them, including one in which a woman ordered chicken strips from Chick-fil-A and noticed an unusual yellow spot after examining them more closely, as well as another involving a Chick-fil-A stringy chicken sandwich.
Viewers were divided over what they believed the footage showed. Some accepted the creator’s claim and encouraged her to report the incident, while others questioned whether the material was actually paper.
Among the comments were “Are you sure that isn’t thin chicken skin?” while another user wrote, “paper look crispy tho.” Some urged the creator to take legal action, commenting, “Get a lawyer & sue” and “take it straight to a lawyer,” while another added, “Call health dept.” Others were skeptical of the claim, with one person writing, “thats actually chicken skin. but you’re looking for a problem,” and another commented, “Zaxby’s is garbage now.”
Zaxby’s has built its brand around chicken since opening its first restaurant in Georgia in 1990. Today, its menu includes Chicken Fingerz, wings, chicken sandwiches, Zalads, crinkle fries, Texas toast, and its signature Zax Sauce. The chain has since expanded to hundreds of locations, with most of its restaurants in the Southeast.
Like many national restaurant chains, Zaxby’s has occasionally drawn attention over customer complaints shared on social media. The posts have included claims about incorrect orders, food quality, and service at individual locations. While some complaints have gone viral, they relate to specific customer experiences and do not, on their own, establish a broader issue across the chain.
