Wichita woman takes first bite of Chick-fil-A sandwich. Then she opens it up—and is shocked by what she sees: ‘I knew I wasn’t crazy’

Texture can make or break your meal. Sinking your teeth into your food to find an unpleasant surprise can instantly give you the ick to the point of refusing to finish it. A singular bite in a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich did it for this Kansas woman.
Ew, What’s In This Chick-fil-A Sandwich?
As TikTok user Rennat (@rennatokeefe) sits in her car, she is holding the viral spicy chicken sandwich without pickles.
“I was really giving Chick-fil-A another chance,” she says. “But their texture has been disgusting. I took the first bite and I couldn’t even get the [expletive] chicken apart.”
To prove it to her 2.8 million viewers, the content creator takes the piece and pulls it apart, revealing a stringy consistency attached to the patty.
“Gross, we gotta go,” Rennat concludes, sliding the sandwich back into the wrapper.
Rennat joins another woman who found a revolting discovery in her Chick-fil-A meal. In November, she bit into a Chick-n-Minis with a dark pink mass at the center.
A Disgusting Deeper Dive
Rennat told The Mary Sue she purchased this Chick-fil-A sandwich from the Wichita location. Because her daughter was hungry and this store was close by, she reluctantly agreed to it.
“I only gave them another chance because my daughter and I were on our way out of town and she hadn’t eaten that day. We were late to get on the road, so I compromised,” she shared via TikTok comment.
As soon as she tried to take a bite, she knew something was off.
“The moment I couldn’t bite through my ‘chicken’ sandwich. The texture was so unpleasant that I lost my appetite immediately!” she recalled. “Taste wasn’t even a factor! I took that sandwich out of my mouth real quick!”
However, this was one of many similar experiences the content creator has had with the fast food chain.
“I’ve purchased many different sandwiches/nuggets within the last year or so. All have had a weird texture lately,” she said.
This was the final straw for Rennat, where she has sworn them off completely.
Viewers Are Repulsed
“Well I stopped eating McDonalds… Chick-fil-A is next,” one viewer remarked.
“Call the police omfggggg I would pass out,” another commented.
“This would send me into a vegetarian spiral for YEARSSSSS,” a third stated.
“Omg.. the day i take a bite & it comes out like that im never eating again,” a fourth said.
So, Why Could Her Sandwich Look Like That?
This could be a case of myopathy or, in layman’s terms, ‘Spaghetti Meat,’ which is a muscle abnormality that causes the muscle fibers to turn into soft strings, per Delish. The new phenomenon discovered in 2015 affects between 10% and 35% of chickens in the poultry industry.
Experts believe the link is due to the way modern chickens undergo increasingly rapid growth, where the pectoral muscles are stretched thin, where it weakens. Hence, the larger the bird, the more at risk they are of it, in theory. Although unsightly, it is safe to consume.
Has Chick-fil-A Changed Their Chicken?
Indeed, they have. In 2024, they rolled out its signature chicken raised with No Antibiotics Ever to No Antibiotics Important to Human Medicine (NAIHM). Under this standard, animal antibiotics treat sick chickens instead of separating them from the healthy ones. Nevertheless, the company adamantly states on its website they use real chicken breast without fillers or added hormones or steroids, and those cleared of this medicine.
Of course, this transition has sparked criticism from social media users, including former fans of the fast food restaurant in Rennat’s comments section.
“I used to love Chick-fil-A, now I can’t eat it. It hurts my stomach every time. I feel so sick any time I eat it,” one commenter shared.
“Ever since they changed the antibiotic regulations or standards, it hasn’t tasted the same. And I used to be a Chick-fil-A fanatic, and now I can’t even tell you the last time I’ve been there,” a second revealed.
