‘You Leave It In A Place That’s Impossible For Me To Get’: Paralyzed Man Says His DoorDash Order Was Deliberately Left Out Of Reach

He just wanted to have his McDonald's in peace

There’s not much that differently-abled people ask of others, beyond a little consideration, but in this man’s case, that wasn’t on the table. In a video he uploaded to his TikTok, where he mentions that he is paralyzed and posts content about his experiences, @adaptive98 narrated how a DoorDash driver did him dirty and even pulled up the receipts as proof.

Showing video footage from his CCTV camera, @adaptive98 claimed that the woman who had come to deliver to his house deliberately left his package on a rock situated between his house and his neighbor’s, with bushes on both sides, which he couldn’t reach. What’s even worse is that he mentioned it was 6 in the morning, so he couldn’t call his neighbors to help him out, leaving the fate of the package undetermined.

Expressing his frustration over the matter and the DoorDash delivery person, @adaptive98 said, “Like she literally almost like you could have just left it anywhere close to the door. I could have got it, but no, you leave it in a place that’s impossible for me to get.” He also hurled expletives at DoorDash owing to frustration. He said, “F*** you, DoorDash.”

“She was going to take it”

@adaptive98’s post has over 2000 comments, and a few believe the delivery person would have taken the order if not for the camera. One user wrote, “She was going to take it till she saw the camera.” Another user with a similar view said, “She was gonna take it, then chickened out last second. She had one foot basically in the car before she dropped your bag.”

@adaptive98

Seriously what the actual f*ck DoorDash!!!?? she left on top of some rocks that is literally impossible for me to get in my wheelchair. In all my years of ordering DoorDash this has never happened and of course she leaves it in the ONE spot I can’t get to!! #fyp #disability #doordash #doordashdelivery #viraltiktok

A few people who identified as disabled also weighed in on the issue in the comments section. An individual spoke from experience and said,“Im a leg amputee & I don’t always have the ability to go outside but so many delivery drivers want me to meet them outside or go out to their vehicle im the parking lot where I live its irritating.” They added, “ive even had 1 driver leave my pizza outside on the ground of the parking lot where I live.”

Another person spoke about their father being disappointed by a DoorDash delivery and said, “My Father is blind. I ordered dd for him. I told them hes blind, you have to hand it to him. They left it at the bottom of his stairs(3) in the rain.” As you scroll through the comments on @adaptive98’s post, you realize that many people have had polarizing experiences with DoorDash, and this Houston man’s case is no exception.

In a video he uploaded later, @adaptive98 mentioned that his 77-year-old mother, who is also disabled and recently had hip surgery, is the one who ordered the DoorDash delivery. @adaptive98 said she had ordered food from McDonald’s and had set up a system where she would have to provide a code to receive the delivery; however, no one came to her asking for the code. @adaptive98 said it was at this point that his mother asked him to check the package, and he found whatever he did.

Concluding his video, @adaptive98 said he knocked the food off the rock, and it tumbled to his feet, so he could retrieve it. He also stressed that it was the DoorDash driver’s fault and not DoorDash’s in this case. However, he asked DoorDash to take action.
