Woman from Portland was Thrown a Suspicious Liquid by a Man in Broad Daylight. The Cops Allegedly Refused to Take DNA Evidence
She had to go back to the crime scene and collect the evidence herself.
Julianne (@roaming.rn), a nurse from Portland, Maine, was walking with her headphones on in broad daylight when a young man allegedly threw semen behind her leg. Although she reported the incident to authorities, Julianne claimed the cops refused to take a DNA sample for analysis.
Julianne is in grad school, and she was listening to lectures with her headphones on. She said it wasn’t uncommon for her to walk in public with her headphones on, and she was still aware of her surroundings.
“I was gonna cross the street at one spot and decided not to, because there was a man standing there,” she said. Erring on the side of caution, like a woman from Chicago who was followed to a parking lot at night, Julianne went to the next street. She said the decision backfired when a man pulled up and parked his truck near a store. At first, Julianne thought he went into the store, but then she felt a presence behind her.
“So, I paused my lecture. And I couldn’t cross yet because I was at a busy intersection waiting for the light to turn,” Julianne recalled. She said the man behind her was “weirdly close” to her. She was on high alert, like a woman from Nashville who was being persistently stalked. Nevertheless, Julianne was stuck, still waiting for the stoplight to change colors.
“And all of a sudden, I see a weird motion behind me. And I feel something wet land on the back of my leg,” Julianne alleged. The man behind her started walking away very quickly. She panicked, thinking he attacked her with battery acid. Julianne continued, “My instinct was take my hand, wipe behind my leg, and then immediately realized that it was semen.”
She reported him to the cops
Julianne said she started running after the man to confront him. She asked him what he threw on her, but the man allegedly kept saying “nothing.” The incident allegedly happened in broad daylight, at a busy intersection in Portland. Nevertheless, Julianne said other civilians came to her rescue.
“A lovely man pulled his truck across traffic to also confront him. And two other women stopped to help me, because they also saw it happen,” Julianne claimed. Before her alleged perp got away, Julianne said she got a picture of his face and license plate.
“He was found and charged. But one thing I thought was pretty crazy is the cops didn’t want to take the DNA that I had,” Julianne alleged. She later uploaded the footage of the cop who refused to take the evidence. Julianne, however, was still concerned that the man would go on to harm other women, like this Virginia woman’s perp, who allegedly has a history of assault.
“So, one of the witnesses, her daughter, is in forensics, and she was able to connect me with her, and she told me to collect evidence if I could and call the sexual assault hotline,” Julianne continued. Since she’s a nurse, Julianne said she went back to the scene and collected the DNA evidence.
“It’s also just insane that someone who’s already a victim of sexual assault has to collect their own evidence,” Julianne stated. The man has not yet been charged with sexual assault, and Julianne has not yet posted an update regarding the case.
