Woman agrees to be a bridesmaid for her friend, then she’s told she must get facials twice a week and gain 120 pounds: ‘What happened to my friend?’

Most bridesmaid requests involve a dress and a few fittings. A TikTok creator who posts as Jackie.o436 says her best friend made far stranger demands, including that she gain about 120 pounds so the bride would look thinner, according to the Daily Dot.
The creator opened by saying there is nothing scarier than a woman about to become a bride. She said Nikki, her best friend, asked her to be a bridesmaid at a restaurant. According to the TikToker, Nikki wanted the creator to gain about 120 pounds over the next couple of months because she wanted to be the skinniest girl on her big day. The creator said Nikki weighed around 200 pounds, and Nikki apparently started crying when the creator suggested she lose weight instead.
Nikki accused her of trying to sabotage the wedding as she declined the request. Nikki also said she asked her own sister to do the same thing, according to the creator. After her sister said no, Nikki allegedly uninvited her from the wedding. The creator also said Nikki had two more requests if she accepted being her bridesmaid.
Nikki apparently wanted to be the skinniest woman at her own wedding
Nikki reportedly told her to skip the wedding if she refused and expected her to buy her own dress. That cost alone has fueled real disputes, including a bride who complained about her photographer dying before sending her photos. Some viral bridezilla stories have proved strange, like a couple that got divorced and asked their photographer for a refund.
Things reportedly went from bad to worse when Nikki brought up her second demand. According to the creator, Nikki then told her to get a facial at least twice a week. Nikki allegedly cited her acne, saying she didn’t want to pay for airbrushing in photos.
The third demand was perhaps the most absurd. Nikki allegedly wanted the creator to bend over on stage the entire time so she could look like the tallest woman in the room. When the creator told her she was being unreasonable, Nikki reportedly threw a plate of spaghetti at her and started throwing a tantrum like a small child.
Nikki then lashed out with some cruel comments. “I knew it, I knew it all along. You are so jealous that I’m getting married and you’re not because you’re a single loser! I knew this killed you,” Nikki said, according to the creator.
The creator reportedly finally had enough and left the restaurant after paying for both meals. As she walked away, she said she turned to look at Nikki one last time. She claimed she saw Nikki crawl over to the other side of the table and stress-eat all the spaghetti off the floor. The final detail, Nikki allegedly eating spaghetti off the floor, makes the story read more like a skit than a real encounter. Even so, demanding brides are a familiar part of wedding culture, and real stories of bridesmaids facing extreme requests surface online regularly.
Paying for her own dress was the one request that follows wedding tradition
Etiquette guidance supports at least one of the demands the creator described. The Emily Post Institute says bridesmaids traditionally cover their own dresses and alterations, along with travel to the wedding. However, the institute also calls the role a big commitment of money and time, and it treats bridesmaid contracts and extreme demands as the stuff of horror stories.
In a 2023 LendingTree survey of nearly 2,000 U.S. consumers, 62% of people who had been in a wedding party over the previous five years said they spent more than they could afford. The same survey found that 56% of bridesmaids took on debt, while 27% of respondents turned down a bridal party role because of cost.
