Wedding photographer, ready to take photos of the beautiful day, realizes the film roll she bought from Amazon is full of rocks
A wedding photographer who had arrived at the venue ready to take photos of the bride and groom was left shocked after opening the box of film rolls she’d bought off Amazon, only to find the plastic film canisters were all filled with rocks. She warned others not to make the same mistake as her and told viewers to “Check your film peeps.”
The photographer, who goes by the name “kdhuntphotographyllc” (AKA Katie) on TikTok, said that she had spent $250 on the box of Portra film rolls from Amazon. However, when one of the film canisters was opened, all that was inside was a rock. Shocked, Katie immediately checked the rest of the canisters.
Unfortunately for her, it was the same story with every canister; all of them contained rocks rather than the film she needed for her camera. The lack of film rolls put the wedding day in jeopardy, but luckily the women remained. Katie and the second photographer took pictures of the canisters and rocks with the intention of returning them and getting a refund.
Luckily, they had more film
Finding out the film they had brought to the wedding venue was not actually in the box was hardly ideal, but thankfully, Katie claimed she had brought extra film rolls (and so had her second), meaning they were still able to photograph the wedding ceremony as planned. However, in the description, Katie said she had wanted extra rolls for the next few weddings.
Responses from viewers on TikTok varied, with some saying the fault lay with Amazon “for not checking returns,” and others saying that Katie and her second photographer should have checked their equipment before arriving at the venue.
Most viewers seemed to agree that the photographers had been the victim of a scam, although it was unclear whether the seller themself had even been aware of the apparent scam. One viewer claimed that someone had “ordered the film, used the film, filled with rocks then sealed up and returned to get refund.” According to the commenter, “returns are never checked because it was sealed.”
However the rocks ended up in there was irrelevant; ultimately, Katie had not gotten what she paid for. In a second video, she claimed that after she was done with the wedding, she contacted Amazon and returned the film and was immediately told her return was issued.
The photographer expressed concern that the seller would dispute the return, as she had a feeling it wasn’t their fault. To avoid the seller disputing, she contacted customer service to be sure. She also said she would no longer buy camera equipment via Amazon.
