Viral Truck-Bed Stunt Sparks Warning From Alberta Car Wash Operators

Somebody took the phrase “full-service car wash” too literally.

Two men in Alberta, Canada, found an unconventional way to combine a car wash with shower time after riding through an automatic wash in the open bed of a pickup truck. The viral stunt has since prompted a warning from the business involved, which is asking everyone else to refrain from creating a sequel to the potentially dangerous stunt.

Security footage shared by Oasis Auto Wash shows the pickup entering an operating wash bay with the two men sitting completely exposed in the back. Rather than hopping out before the cycle began, they remained there as the truck moved through water, cleaning products, and powerful drying equipment.

“We know a thing or two, because we’ve seen a thing or two,” Oasis Auto Wash joked when sharing the footage. Its actual message was considerably less negotiable: “PLEASE do not attempt to recreate!”

Apparently, the car wash’s list of available services does not include bathing two fully grown passengers.

This Is One Car Wash Upgrade Nobody Asked For

The footage quickly crossed borders and timezones, with other social media accounts resharing the unusual trip through the wash. Daily Mail Australia also posted the surveillance video while reiterating warnings against copying the stunt.

Automatic commercial car washes are designed for vehicles, not exposed passengers. Anyone riding outside the enclosed cabin could come into direct contact with cleaning chemicals, high-pressure water, powerful air blowers, and moving machinery. On another note, car washes have occasionally become the backdrop for much darker incidents, including one violent family confrontation. This particular warning, however, is much simpler: don’t experience the wash from outside the vehicle. It’s not worth replicating no matter how much you want to experience being a car for a day.

That danger didn’t prevent commenters from treating the CCTV footage like the world’s strangest buddy activity. Numerous comments hinted toward how the viral shenanigan sounded like a scene from a Netflix show with bad reviews that people would watch anyway. “Which bad movie is this from? Where can i watch it?”, one commenter chimed in, whereas another pulled a slightly sinister cinematic reference: “have they not seen final destination?”

“I know damn well they counted that as their shower,” someone else joked. Another called it “Midwest activities,” while someone else wondered, “Did they get polished too.”

Perhaps the most important observation, however, came from a viewer who noticed something unusual about this particular viral stunt: “No recoding or nothing all for the love of the game.” Assuming they meant recording a video, the two weren’t even visibly creating their own content while doing it. Some memories apparently require neither a camera nor common sense.

The Internet Had Plenty of Theories

In true internet fashion, commenters wanted to know what could possibly inspire two people to volunteer for the human-deluxe-wash package. “What in the fantasy football punishment [is] this,” one person asked, while others repeatedly suggested a lost bet or fraternity initiation.

One commenter simply called it an “expensive shower.” Another joked about it being their “first shower this year,” proving the citizens of the internet had collectively selected one explanation and weren’t particularly interested in abandoning it.

Whatever inspired the stunt, Oasis Auto Wash has made its position perfectly clear: don’t recreate it. The warning is worth taking seriously, even if their caption included multiple entertained emojis.

The truck may have emerged cleaner, but its two unconventional passengers gave the car wash something harder to rinse away: a viral reminder that some ideas should stay in the group chat. When it comes down to it, perhaps the commentary was right and this was just an elaborate shower. Either way, lather, rinse, but please don’t repeat.
