‘Handed Out Plates and Cutlery’: Family Unpacks a Full Buffet at 30,000 Feet. Then Refuses To Stop When Crew Intervenes and Ends Up Being Blacklisted
This flight got out of hand quickly!
One family found themselves blacklisted after handing out an entire buffet to their traveling party at 30,000 feet. On TikTok, @des.pvt.ltd chronicled the story of a large group of travellers turning their flight into a buffet line. According to the account, the family of 15 “handed out plates and cutlery” across the aisles until the flight crew tried to step in. They argue that the other passengers were offended by the smell of their food and the police were called in when the plane touched down.
As the crew reportedly approached the family, they asked them to put away the food because of the other passengers’ requests. @des.pvt.ltd says they responded, “they had the freedom to eat however they wanted.” Other passengers also took issue with the family because they said that the traveling party kept moving around the cabin while they served the food and during their meal. It’s a messy situation that couldn’t be resolved in the air.
Landing on the airline’s blacklist is a stiff punishment. But, if the other passengers were really complaining, there was no other course of action that would have made sense. A family decides to take dinner into their own hands with a buffet
Airline incidents surrounding food are becoming a hot button topic on social media. As the pandemic pushes further away from the state it was in 2020, passengers are filming their fellow travelers more and more. That means, instant eyeballs because of the circumstances surrounding air travel. Packing your own food has become more visible as airlines begin to pull back on food and beverage service for various flights. Though, maybe a buffet is too extreme? People reported on Delta nixing refreshment carts on shorter flights earlier this year.
Delta said in a statement, “Even on the small number of flights without beverage service, our crew will continue to be visible, available, and focused on caring for our customers, like they do on every flight.”
“Beginning May 19, Delta is adjusting onboard beverage service to create a more consistent experience across our network,” Delta told People. “Customers traveling in Delta Comfort and Delta Main on flights 350 miles and above will now receive full beverage and snack service, while shorter flights will no longer offer food and beverage service—with the exception of Delta First which always receives full service.”
