‘This is Outrageous’: Kaitlan Collins Shows Video of Trump Debunking ‘Security Concern’ Moments After Catering Truck Escape

President Donald Trump is receiving criticism after he revealed on Wednesday that, on the advice of the U.S. Secret Service, he switched planes on his July 2026 trip to Turkey while returning. A Reuters article from August 11, 2026, based on information revealed by the Washington Post, states that, following a NATO summit, Trump was transferred from Air Force One to a safer plane via a catering truck, allegedly following threats of assassination from Iran.
Questions are now being asked, specifically by journalists aboard Air Force One who asked Trump why they had been asked to lower their window shades. Trump said that it was perhaps because they were on a “dangerous flight,” while adding that he had not been asked to do the same. Then, he said, addressing the journalists, “If I go, you go. Right?”
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins raised this issue, showing a clip of Trump speaking to the reporters just before the switch and noted how journalists and other staff aboard Air Force One were kept in the dark about the plane switch plan, implicitly putting their lives at risk from this theorized assassination attempt.
Trump says he followed directions from the Secret Service
An article published by the BBC on Tuesday reports that, while discussing plane changes in Turkey, Trump told reporters, “I go by Secret Service and the military. They wanted me to go in a different flight, different plane.” He added, “I just have to do what they say.”
The Reuters article, mentioned earlier, notes that Communications Director Steve Cheung, when asked to comment on Trump secretly boarding a plane, said that the C-32A (the jet controversially donated by Qatar) had been equipped with “high-level security protocols” to ensure the safety of all those on board the plane, including the President. The source also told the Washington Post, “As the President has said recently, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every tool at our disposal to address those threats.”
Many have sounded alarm bells on this. One user wrote, “So basically, trump was willing to sacrifice the lives of reporters by leaving them on AF One, while he snuck off to a more safe, anonymous plane that wouldn’t get shot down?”
Some others, on the other hand, suggested that Collins’ bringing attention to this aspect was unnecessary. One user said, “This is such a bad take… You know the dangers of your profession. If you are not up for it, don’t do it. Who forced you?”
Since becoming president for a second term last year, Trump has made certain decisions that have drawn significant criticism and put him at risk of negative consequences. This is far from the first time people have had to extract him from dangerous situations after threats. Notably, during the first scheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner, he had to be evacuated after a gunman attempted to rush the stage.
