Things We Saw Today: Irish Citizens Are Flying Back Home For the Referendum #RepealThe8th

(taken by Princess Weekes)

Irish citizens from around the world are returning home in order to vote in Friday’s upcoming election. The Friday vote will be on whether to repeal the Eighth Amendment Irish constitution, which makes abortion illegal under almost all circumstances. As evidenced in the picture above, when I visited Ireland last month it was clear that the issue is very split and the anti-choice side has been pumping out propaganda in order to keep the abortion laws in place. It’s a really powerful reminder of how times are evolving and what people can change when they come together.

You got this Ireland. #Repealthe8th
