Things We Saw Today: Carrie Fisher’s Urn Is Shaped like a Prozac Pill; Bless Her

Always the comedian, Carrie Fisher must’ve requested that she be laid to rest in an urn shaped like a Prozac tablet, because that is exactly what her family did for her. Fisher also had decorated her kitchen floor with Prozac-inspired tiles, so this fits into that theme. As I noted in my memorial of her, Carrie Fisher was a big advocate for having a sense of humor about her bipolar disorder and about all the other experiences she’s had in her life, good and bad–and it’s wonderful to see her dry wit on display at her memorial. • Speaking of the legacy of Carrie Fisher, apparently when she first read the script for A New Hope, she wanted the role of Han Solo. Who wouldn’t? In her words, “it’s the best part!” (via Games Radar)
  • The Resident Evil 7 marketing team made a huge mistake when it came to designing this collectible item.
  • Rogue One continues to clean up at the box office. Have you seen it yet???
  • Keegan-Michael Key has just been tapped to join Fox’s Predator reboot, alongside Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook and Olivia Munn. (via Variety)
  • Apparently, Ryan Gosling was up for the role of Doctor Strange, and this concept art of him in the costume looks delightfully weird.
  • According to this LiveScience article, if a zombie apocalypse happens, it would wipe all of us out in less than 100 days. Speaking of doomsday scenarios, LiveScience also has an article up today about how climate change could screw up ocean currents. Seems like those LiveScience writers are a real barrel of laughs, huh?
  • Here’s something to look forward to: Hermione Granger and the Quarter Life Crisis, a new web series launching on January 16, 2017. In the show, which is an alt-history fan-fic of Harry Potter, our heroine “wakes up at 25 and decides that she doesn’t want to stay with Ron Weasley, remain in the UK, or grow up to be Minister of Magic. Instead, she moves to LA where she reconnects with her old Hogwarts roommate, Parvati Patil, her witty, feminist Muggle cousin, LaQuita Granger, and Draco Malfoy. She also meets a couple of new friends, including an Ilvermorny grad/hacker named Juniper Diaz.” The trailer looks amazing. (via Black Girl Nerds)
