News of director J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 has been scant; there was something about aliens, maybe something about a government cover up, and no one was really sure where the titular film camera fit into the mix. That ended this morning when the trailer arrived in full blown glory, via Twitter.
With nearly 2,000 followers on Twitter, the trailer is garnering a lot of attention. This is a move sure to inspire imitators in the cut-throat world of marketing, as Paramount just ensured that their trailer got written up all over the place. And the best part is that the trailer is actually quite intriguing, bringing classics like E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and even The Goonies to mind.
It looks like we’ll be in for a treat with the film, and if the trend of appealing directly to the film’s audience continues, we’ll likely be seeing more of it soon.
