Buffy/Angel Fans, Spike and Cordelia are Getting Married…On Supernatural

Officially Official

There are many things in TV news that have the ability to fill us with joy. Few of them are as effective, however, as when you promise to reunite some Buffy alums. (We’ve been trying to rally the fandom to get Sarah Michele Gellar a guest starring role on Bones for years.) News broke yesterday on just such a pairing. No, not SMG–she has her own show on The CW to worry about now. Instead, Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters–Cordelia and Spike, from Buffy and Angel, for those of you who read this site and somehow don’t know–are slated to appear in an episode of Supernatural, playing an unhappily married couple. The episode, which will be the fifth of the show’s seventh season, will be entitled “Shut Up, Doctor Phil,” and will feature the pair’s unhappy marriage.

Chances Carpenter’s character will hit on one of the Winchester brothers? We’d say 97.6%. Well, either that or, we’re guessing (Is it a spoiler if we actually have no idea?), they’ll kill her and/or both of them. Because (Yes, proper spoiler alert here, although not really because it’s a supernatural procedural show and this is just how things go), according to NerdBastards, “she’s a crazyass bitch (who is actually a witch) out seeking revenge on her husband for something or other.”

Well…that’ll be interesting. We’re slightly tickled by the idea (although less so about the vengeful “crazyass” wife trope), but even for those who aren’t fans of Supernatural it’s almost always fun to throw Whedon alums back together. Back in 2005, both Carpenter and Alyson Hannigan appeared in guest arcs on Veronica Mars, a show which Whedon himself also made a cameo on.

As TV Line’s Matt Mitovich tweeted yesterday, “Were Bones not starting late, we’d have a week of fall TV featuring Buffy, Willow, Angel, Spike, and Cordy.” *Sigh,* what could have been. Still, we’ll be content with four out of five for now, as it’s always nice to see geeky shows pay homage to each other. (Topless Robot via Nerd Bastards)
