Customer Gets Her Bill at Restaurant. Then She Sees the Note the Server Left About Them on the Receipt: ‘Annoying’

A restaurant’s customer discovered a note on her receipt. It wasn’t very nice.

In a viral TikTok video with over 1.8 million views, user alanaaedson (@alanaaedson) shared the surprise writing.

“Went to a restaurant and I guess their kitchen ticket prints notes print on the receipt,” text overlaid on the video read.

The receipt included two food items and vegan ranch sauce.

It also had a surprise note that read: “Sry Theyre F—- Annoying.”

Are Notes Often Left On Restaurant Receipts?

There have been many incidents in the service industry where notes are left on receipts.

It is more common for customers to leave notes for servers.

In New Jersey, a gay server claimed a party wrote her a hateful note and refused to leave her a tip. She posted a photo of the receipt to Facebook.

Per the photo, the note read: “I’m sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle.”

The family shot back by providing a receipt that showed they paid and never left any note.

They claimed they left an $18 tip and had bank receipts to prove it.

In Ohio, another restaurant patron was accused of leaving a hateful message instead of a tip at a Mexican restaurant.

“I hope Trump deports you!” it allegedly read.

One server also claimed she received an invitation for a date from a customer instead of a tip.

However, it’s far less common for customer receipts to appear with a note on them.

Have Other Restaurant Customers Received Notes On Their Receipt?

There have been other reported instances of customers receiving inappropriate notes on their receipts.

One woman’s trip to a restaurant called “Crazy Crab” went sour after she received a receipt with a racial slur on it.

The woman told Fox 5 News that she was “shocked and in disbelief” after she received a receipt with the N-word written on the bottom.

The manager blamed a new employee for the incident.

A detail provided by the publication made the entire situation even more strange.

The couple who received the receipt were Asian, and the waiter was also Asian.

Nevertheless, the company decided to let the server go.

The issue of receipts with odd notes is so popular that Snopes.com has an entire page dedicated to debunking different receipt stories.

People Sided With The Server

In the video’s comments section, some defended the restaurant’s note.

“Beef with a side of vegan ranch is annoying,” user Sara Mack wrote.

“Medium rare beef but vegan ranch? I’m on their side this is f—- annoying,” user Kennedy commented.

Servers in the comments blamed cooks for these kinds of notes.

“I just need yall to know, sometimes you’re not bothering me at all but those cooks are MEAN and if i don’t act like im on their side they’re gonna be butt— about it,” user Kenzie Loo wrote.

“Sometimes you just have to say something like this to the chefs so they dont shoot the messenger,” user kati-rose added.
