Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal Is Renewed Unsurprisingly, But Moves to a New Night

Recommended Videos

For those who aren’t aware, Samantha Bee has been the sole female voice in late night television and a beacon of hope during this grim election coverage. Seriously, the landscape is pretty much Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, John Oliver, Seth Meyers, and Stephen Colbert. And after Comedy Central canceled Larry Wilmore’s show, the only other diverse voice is Trevor Noah.

Despite the sea of somewhat homogeneous—albeit smart and funny—voices around her, she thrives and offers up a fresh perspective. That why I wasn’t surprised to hear that her show was picked up for 2017.  However, the show is moving from Monday to Wednesdays night but will keep its same timeslot.

“I am only sorry that this renewal leaves me unavailable for a cabinet position in the new administration,” she said, per Deadline. “I will, however, be available to host the White House Correspondents Dinner, seeing as I already bought the dress.” Let’s make it happen!

While there seems to be little cause to celebrate at the moment, I will revel in this tiny bit of news. Thank goodness for Samantha Bee.
